Spiders and MalagaRoad Flyers make a big Trade
In an interesting twist of scenarios. The Spiders finally trade Nicklas Backstrom and Mike Green. In return from the Flyers he received: Eric Staal, Paul Stastny & Braydon Coburn. Who will the trade benefit? Give it some time before we can decide that yet. Only time will tell if the Spiders got the best possible return!

Rookie Okposo traded to the Stingers
In a minor move Saturday Night. Executioners reacquired his pick back along with David Krejci for Draft Pick Prospect Rookie, Kyle Okposo who plays on the Islanders. It might take a while for Okposo to develop on that team. But if they get Tavares look out as they will be one of the top duos for years to come. Just a thought to keep in mind.
Stingers GET: Kyle Okposo
Executioners GET: David Krejci and his own teams pick back

Assassins break the SHG record for a week!
Congratulations to the assassins. Who after thursday, have already broken the Short Handed Goal record for a week. It was tied by a few people at 2 and has been stuck like that for a long time. Tomas Vanek had a SHG in back to back games. And Simon Gagne's goal even though it was a penalty shot. It was while they were shorthanded. 3 Days of games left can the Assassins possibly add another one to his record before the week is over?
Trade Made: LumberJacks & ItsAllOver
A trade was made between ItsAllOver and the LumberJacks. It involved long time goalie of their franchise Rick Dipietro. In return he got hometown goalie Martin Biron and Brad Richards of the Dallas Stars.

Jack Johnson (MalagaRoad Flyers) out a at least 3 months after shoulder surgery
Young talented 2nd year d man Jack Johnson will miss 3 months or more. He will require shoulder surgery and that will be a significant blow to the MalagaRoad Flyers considering he already lost the other Johnson, Erik, for the rest of the year.
The Kings' Jack Johnson, a key figure in the team's rebuilding plans, suffered a tear in the labrum of his left shoulder Sunday and will undergo surgery this week.
He was put on injured reserve and isn't expected back until after the Jan. 25 All-Star game, Coach Terry Murray said Monday.
"It's very unfortunate," Murray said. "When you look at it, and when you look at things like this, it always seems like an innocent play."
Johnson was injured during the first period of the Kings' 1-0 loss to San Jose on Sunday at Staples Center. Murray said Johnson was attempting to play a puck that had flipped into the air when he was hit by a Sharks player.
"He saw the player at the last second and tried to get out of the way but couldn't," Murray said.
Young Rangers Prospect Cherepanov dies during a game in KHL
In a sad bizzare tragedy. Young Talented russian player Alexei Cherepanov passed away today during a game in the KHL league. He was drafted by the Rangers last year and was going to come up later this year or next year. He collided into teammate Jaromir Jagr, a few minutes later on the bench he collapsed of a heart attack and died. They were unable to revive him and the ambulance already left the building. This is another loss to the hockey community. Just last year young defenseman prospect luc bourdon was tragically killed in a motorcycle accident. Cherepanov looked like he was going to be a good player, its crazy to have a heart attack at 19 and in when your in shape.
The 1st week is completed!
Here is some of the game scores for the Week 1 Matches:
Grumpy's 6 - 4 Snipers
Flyers 6 - 5 Assassins
Scrubs 8 - 1 ItsAllOver
Executioners 7 - 5 LumberJacks
Incredibles 6 - 3 Spiders
Stingers 6 - 4 Slashers

Free Agency Started!
You can now pick up any players you want. All the signings you made and will, make will count toward your 20. Sunday Afternoon started off with a bang. An Insane wave of signings early. Alot of goalies finally went to teams. Alot of young talent was picked up like: Hornqvist, Brunnstrom, Yandle, Girardi, Russell, Perron, Brassard, Boedker, Goligoski, Koistonen, Grabovski, Stralman, Hamhuis. And the goalies that got signed which there was a mad scramble for was: Ellis, Garon, Smith, Budaj, Gerber.
It was a very crazy and intense 20 minutes. People were on as soon as I opened the message board. People signed the same player by accident. Once it was exactly the same time only 9 seconds difference. Most people got what they needed. There is still some talented players available through Free Agency.

The excitement and suspense of the waiver draft is ticking away. Only 12 hours left till we hold our annual waiver draft. Only this time it is going to be live. You have to type your team name as the username and that is it. You will be in. Even if you do not have a pick: Spiders, Executioners, Grumpy's, Scrubs I encourage you to get on as there will be trades being made that day for picks or players. Hopefully everyone finds a way to improve their team whether it is Saturdays Waiver Draft or Sundays Free Agency. Good Luck see you all tomorrow in the Live Chat on our website. Not the Live Chat on the message board. Don't get the two confused.

Slashers (Sergei Gonchar) out 4-6 monts!
Sergei Gonchar is out longer than originally expected. He now needs surgery on to fix a dislocated shoulder as it was more serious then they thought. This is a blow to the Pittsburgh Penguins as now he and Whitney will be out for a significant amount of time. This is puts a serious dent in the Slashers Defense right now as he only has 3 left. He will be greatly missed while he is out. Gonchar might be back in time for our FHL playoffs.

Head of the Class!
The 3 players pictures above are the guys that are going to go 1,2, and 3 in the waiver draft this upcomming Saturday. Stamkos, Carter and Turris in no particular order yet. As there is some confusion and debating of who to pick at what spot. After that there is some really nice talent to be selected from. You can make great picks or picks that backfire and blow up in your face. You can pick the young rookie over the developing 3rd or 4th year player and that rookie does not pan out. It is all up to how each owner runs his team. Everyone here has different philosophies and do different things. So far in the last 2 years of our waiver draft. I will break down some numbers. 35% of the Waiver picks did not pan out, not as bad of a number as i thought it would be. Only 2 Goalies have been picked out of 20. and 6 Defenseman were picked along with 12 Forwards.
I think the trend will continue. As I only see one goalie being drafted. maybe 2 if some circumstances change from now till then. I see 2 or 3 D men going and the rest all forwards. There is an abundance of talent out there. The day after which is sunday and the beginning of free agency, there will still be plenty of talent around.

Slashers (Sergei Gonchar) Out Dislocated Shoulder
Sergei Gonchar dislocated his shoulder in a preseason game. He will miss about 3-4 weeks. This is a big blow to the Slashers Defense. As he is one of the top D-men in the entire league. It will be hard to replace his stats untill he is back.

Erik Johnson (MalagaRoad Flyers) out for Season?
Big Story breaking in right now. The injury to Erik Johnson is worst than expected. It is now reported that he is out for 6-9 months with a torn ACL. That is most or all of the season. This is a very significant blow to the MalagaRoad Flyers team and the season did not even start yet. He was injured when his foot got jammed between the brake and gas pedal trying to stop a golf cart he was driving. A freak accident like last year when a skated dropped and sliced Dan Boyle's wrist causing him to miss alot of time after the surgery. Erik Johnson had over 30 points as a rookie and was looking to make a big step this year in his 2nd year. Hopefully he can come back 100% and develop into what he was supposed to be.
Stingers Owner\GM Anthony off in a trading Frenzy!
Anthony has now made 4 trades since taking over the team and calling them the Stingers. He has traded with Executioners, Grumpy's, Snipers, LumberJacks. He now finally has 2 good goalies in Fleury and Miller. Look for the stingers to have one more trade left in his system before the season starts. It might even be a Waiver Draft Day trade in the Live Chat Room. Either way then or Free Agency the Stingers will sure up the rest of his roster.

Players on the Trade Block
Here are some of the players on the trade block. They have a possibility of changing FHL teams before the season starts in 2 weeks: Mike Cammalleri (Snipers), Vaclav Prospal (Executioners), Cory Stillman (Executioners), Matt Carle (Stingers), Tuukka Rask (Stingers), Tom Gilbert (Flyers), Shawn Horcoff (Executioners), Vesa Toskala (ItsAllOver), Niklas Lidstrom (LumberJacks), Chris Drury (Grumpy's), Cam Barker (Spiders). These are some of the players that were offered in trades recently or talked about in trade block. There is growing speculation that Mike Cammalleri will be traded in the next 7 days.

Jason owner of ItsAllOver named NEW Assistant Commissioner and other news
Jason will be replacing, Big Anthony as the assistant commissioner for the foreseeable future. He has had some insight into the league. More then others had. He started and writes the Season Preview column along with other articles he will be doing. He will help me with ideas to make the league better.
Big Anthony was moved to Head Of Operations. He is on the message board the most. So he will be able to let me know when something is wrong wether its an error or something not working right on the website or message board. Like I said he is on the most so he will notice stuff before some of us others will.

Major Announcement: Running the league on ESPN
This is major news and its good news. For the first time ever we will be using EPSN for the Fantasy Hockey and not Yahoo. ESPN is free now, has free live scoring also. 22 weeks just like we always have! It lets me set conferences up. The right amount of teams for the playoffs, 4 each conferece. And it gives 1 win out if you are (8-4-1) that week, so our standings on our page will be just like ESPN's, unlike yahoo was able to let me do. ESPN lets me do much more. It will be better on here I think, cause the living scoring. And now I want have to do the playoffs, everything will be the way I always wanted yahoo to do it.
I already set it it up. You will be getting the link Thursday night sometime!!!

Hockey starts in just 6 weeks
The NHL and our FHL are only 6 weeks away from starting. I can't wait for hockey to come back. Some people are on the message board here and there. But it will be active very soon. Hopefully a few of the teams that did not get on alot make more appearances and check their trades. This will be a fun season with no arguing. All problems can be talked out in a civilized manner. I hope a few of the teams that missed the playoffs make it this year. Or whoever finishes in last place will get Tavares or 2nd to last will get that swedish defenseman who might even get picked ahead of tavares. So good luck to all and all that finish last you will have a pot of gold waiting at the other end of the rainbow. People do not get ripped off for your draft picks for next year, you might wind up finising last and trading your pick which would of been tavares for nothing that is close to equal. I don't want to see anyone doing bad. So don't purposely do stuff to lose to purposely finish last or you will not get a pick its in the rules.
There will now be a countdown clock, which is a widget like the calendar, espn headline and scoreboard we have. It will count down till 12 pm October 4th. Which is the first games in the NHL. It is also the day of our waiver draft.

Incredibles receive waiver pick for Alexander Radulov
This is a big loss for the Incredibles. Radulov was going to be one of the top 3 forwards on the Incredibles team this upcoming FHL season. But now the young talented forward has decided to play in the KHL the new Russian League. The Incredibles receive the 15th pick in the waiver draft as compensation. I personally do not think that is a fair compensation but that is the rules. Can't do nothing about it, just bad luck.
If the predators fight it, and Radulov stays in the NHL. The incredibles will gain Radulov back but lose the 15th pick. If Radulov goes to Russia for 3 years, like the deal is for. Radulov will be up for grabs if he ever comes back to the NHL.

$35 Registration Fee due to make trades
The $35 registration fee can be paid now at any time. You can only make trades if you are paid and with another member that is paid. There is no such thing as agreeing on a trade if the money is not paid. Do not get mad at any owners if they back out of a trade. You can talk trades all you want. Just can't make them or agree on them yet. Do not take anyone's promise or you might get feelings hurt in the process.
If you would like to pay your registration. See me in person or email me at bsolorio81@comcast.net and ask for my address. I do not want post it here for everyone to see.

Waiver Draft & Free Agency dates announced
The NHL released their 2008-2009 schedule and now I can officially announce the dates of our Waiver Draft and Free Agency. There is regular season NHL games a week before the rest of the league starts, which I think is dumb. Because teams are still playing preseason up to week after teams started real play. The dates are listed below.
Waiver Draft - October 4th (Saturday 12-1PM)
Free Agency - October 5th (Sunday 12PM)
IMPORTANT:
You must be in the live chat room to make your Waiver Picks. If you are not in the chat room your picks will be skipped. The live chat will make it more fun, cause you can talk to others in real time. Possibly make a trade before you make a selection. In private messages it takes to long to talk back and forth. There has yet to be a Draft Day trade. This will most likely change things and mike it more interactive. Only exceptions to this if you have work. All others will get skipped!!!

Penalty Minutes: What impact will it have?
Penalty Minutes was voted on and passed to be added as 13th category in our league. Will the impact be far greater than anyone expected? I highly doubt it. But it will make for some interesting weeks. There was alot of teams that hardly had a handful of shorthanded goals in a year. Alot of times if the team you are playing had a SH goal, you can 85% of the time mark that category as a loss. I think PIM's balances out the SH goal category. With penalty minutes it will be like shots, you will be in it till the end of week unless you are getting blown out in PIM's.
I don't think people are going to purposely sign fighters and if they do that it is on them to waste a roster spot on a player that does not contribute in other categories. I think players that are good or great will have even more value in this league if they can get PIM's. Players that were borderline like Sean Avery will definitely be on someones team this year. Plus D men are hard to find, now with PIM's it will make a few guys worth taking that you wouldn't take a chance on before. I think that it will be a fun category and might cause someone to win the week instead of going to a stupid tie breaker.
Once again if people are not happy with the way PIM's worked out we will take it away. It is what the majority of the league wants, not what I want like a few former teams tried to make you believe. PIM's mean Penalty Minutes in case you didn't know that already. Please go on the message board to further discuss this topic if you like...

Stingers makes a decision on Emery
Ray Emery has left the NHL for Russia for a year. He is now in NHL limbo. So the stingers had two choices. To put Emery on the Inactive List. So when he came back he would of been his property still. Or he could of took the waiver pick as compensation. But when Emery comes back he is not his property anymore which means anyone can sign him.
The Stingers chose to take the waiver pick for Ray Emery. They will now have the 14th pick in the waiver draft as compensation. So now Emery is fair game to all when he returns to the NHL!!!

Jaromir Jagr reitres on Team2Beat
Jaromir Jagr announced his departure from the NHL to russia. Which means he is retired from the NHL. Jagr was one of the leagues best players for the last 17 years and will easily go down as one of the best to ever play. He is a sure ballot hall of famer and will be missed by Team2Beat. He was acquired in the Crosby\Plekaneck trade for Datsyuk/Jagr/Bertuzzi.
Team2Beat will now recieve the 13th pick in the waiver draft as compensation for Jagr leaving\retiring!!!

No more than 3 Goalies Rule
Starting in the 2008-2009 season you will not be able to have more than 3 goalies at one time on your FHL team. The only way you can have more than 3 is if you have 2 goalies hurt at the same time. This way nobody can hog goalies up anymore.

Retirement Rule
Labatt Blues who had the 11th pick in the waiver draft. Will now also have the 12th pick as compensation for Hasek's retirement. Hope you guys like this rule. I think its fair. If you want to talk about it, please go to the message board to discuss this rule.

Will Labatt Blues miss Hasek?
With Dominek Hasek retiring monday, what will Labatt Blues do about his vacant goalie spot? Only 2 teams in the league didn't have a 3rd goalie. Now with the extra spot being added to our roster, Everyone will. What will his decision be? Hasek will be hard to replace. He is one of the best goalies that ever played. Even in his final season his goalie stats were phenomenal. With DiPietro and Vokoun both being great goalies but stuck on horrible teams. I see the Labatt Blues picking a goalie with his 11th pick or trading one of them extra forwards for a half decent one.
